About Us
Nataki Mahmood Petty is the creator of Baba’s Botanicals. Baba’s Botanicals was born out of the love for Nataki’s father (in the logo) and her son. As with most small businesses Baba’s Botanicals was created from necessity.
Our story began when Nataki’s son was diagnosed with eczema. Not wanting to use steroids to heal his skin, shea butter became the go to healing element, but after a while his skin became inflamed again. After some allergy tests she found that her son was allergic to nuts and peanuts… and shea butter … comes from a nut. Wanting to continue with natural products she searched stores for cocoa butter. There were lots of products with shea butter in it but very few with cocoa butter. The few that were available had so little cocoa butter in it but lots of alcohol or toxic preservatives. So, as they say, where there is a will there is a way! Nataki began using natural healing knowledge learned from father (aka Baba in Swahili) along with some research and came up with two of Baba’s Botanicals body butters, Soothing Shine & Winter’s Shield.
Nataki realized that there a lots of people who want to do things naturally but may have allergies. So from that, Baba’s Botanicals was born. Our mission is to provide quality natural products free of nuts, artificial scents or unnecessary additives for persons with sensitive skin or the desire for simplicity.
Since the creation of Baba’s Botanicals may customers have used the body butters to deter diaper rash, heal razor bumps, heal and soothe sun burn, heal newly tattooed skin, heal dry/cracked heels and feet, heal and soothe eczema, as well as help heal and repair skin to normal after minor burns, scrapes and cuts. Your skin will feel silky smooth immediately after application. We also offer lip balms that provide the same moisture to keep your lips supple & kissable.
